KATHMANDU, Dec 5: The Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has announced a protest program against the issuance of an arrest warrant against General Secretary Netra Bikram Chand (Biplav), and leaders Khadga Bahadur Bishwakarma and Maila Tamang.

After the Kathmandu District Court issued an arrest warrant on Monday with a 35-day deadline in the case of January 2020, NCP announced the three-day protest program from Tuesday. The NCP has announced that it will hold a torch rally on the evening of December 5, burn the effigy of the judge on December 7, and hold a nationwide public demonstration on December 8.

In a statement issued under the signature of Chand, it is mentioned that the issuance of the arrest warrant is a violation of the 3-point agreement made with the government on March 5, 2021, and also a subversive attack on the initiative to find a peaceful solution to the country's problems.

The party strongly condemns such illegal, rude, and chaotic actions performed by the judge sitting in the court and the responsible body of the state, according to the statement.

It was recalled in the statement that one of the points of the 3-point agreement made with the government was to withdraw the cases against party leaders and cadres and release the prisoners.

Expressing suspicion that the courts and judges have become active in disrupting peace, the statement asserts that the court, which should assist in problem resolution by integrating the agreement with the state into the legal framework, has taken illegal steps.
